ABOUT US

Sensible Solar for Rural New York is a coalition of concerned citizens in rural Columbia County, New York in strong opposition to the Shepherd’s Run Solar Project — a proposed 267-acre, industrial-size solar installation to be sited near New York State Route 23, Route 7 and Route 11A in Craryville and Copake, NY and adjacent to the Taconic Hills Consolidated School and Copake Lake community and recreational area.

Sensible Solar for Rural New York supports solar energy and the creation of renewable energy resources in the state of New York. We oppose, as does local law, the scale and site of the proposed Shepherd’s Run 267-Acre Utility Scale Solar Project. These concerns have been supported by our elected officials, namely, State Senator Michelle Hinchey (click HERE for letter), Assemblymember Didi Barrett (click HERE for letter) and Congressman Marc Molinaro (click HERE for letter)
